Main Street Alley Closure
Please be advised that the Main Street alley between 696 and Kensington will be closed for reconstruction starting this Thursday, July 11. The closure is expected to last about a week.
Kensington Water Main Test Shutdown – Thursday, July 11
Oakland County WRC will be conducting a test shutdown of the Kensington water main this Thursday, July 11. This test is a preparatory measure for the upcoming water main replacement project to ensure we are able to isolate the water main when the project begins. Given the age of our water infrastructure, some of our valves may not function properly, necessitating this test to identify and address any issues.
Residents, particularly those on the east side, should anticipate water pressure drops and the possibility of brown water this Thursday. The brown water is caused by sediment disturbed on the inside of the cast iron water mains due to pressure fluctuations. Once the shutdown is complete the brown sediment will flush from the system. If you experience brown water, run a tap in your house, ideally one closest to your water meter, until the water runs clear again. We recommend avoiding doing laundry during the day on Thursday.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to improve our local infrastructure.
