Curbside bagged yard waste collection begins on April 6. Any yard waste placed at the curb before that date will not be picked up by Tringali.
Until then, the City of Oak Park is providing two drop off locations that Pleasant Ridge residents can use to dispose of bagged yard waste.
Roll-off dumpsters will be dropped off on Monday, March 23, 2026 at the following locations:
The dumpsters are scheduled to be at those locations from Monday, March 23 through Monday, April 6. These dumpsters are for yard waste only, and if Oak Park finds that anything other than yard waste is being disposed of in the dumpsters they will be pulled early.
UPDATE (9:15am, Monday March 1): The water main break repair is complete and water service has been restored. Residents should flush their water system using the instructions below to minimize how much brown water gets into your internal plumbing system.
The Oakland County Water Resources Commission (WRC) is working to address a water main issue on Cambridge near Woodward. That repair requires them to shut down the water main on Cambridge between Woodward and Ridge.
We do not have an estimate for what time during the day or how long that will be due to the nature of the work and the uncertainties caused by our old water infrastructure.
You should expect to experience brown water after water service is restored. This is a common issue with our old water mains whenever one is shut down or when fire hydrants are opened. It is caused by sediment shaking loose from the inside of the cast iron water main. If you have brown water, run the cold water tap closest to your water meter continuously to flush the pipes until it runs clear again. This usually takes 5-15 minutes. We recommend running the faucet closest to the water meter in your basement to minimize how far into your internal plumbing the brown water goes. Do not run a hot water tap until the water runs clear to avoid drawing the sediment into your hot water heater.
The shutdown is not expected to require a boil-water notice unless we discover larger issues that must be repaired. If that happens, WRC will notify you with an flyer specifically stating that you are on a boil water notice on your front door.
Thank you for your patience with these disruptions while we work make this water system repair.
The City has openings on the Planning Commission/DDA (one opening), Recreation Commission (three openings), and Historical Commission (one opening). While the Arts Council does not currently have any openings, you can apply and we will keep your application on record for two years. If you have ever been interested in serving on one of our local commissions, now is a great time to apply.

The City Commission will be considering applications and making appointments at their March 10 meeting, so be sure to apply online by February 20.
The Oakland County Water Resources Commission (WRC) is working to address a water main issue on Gainsboro. That repair requiries them to shut water main valves in the area.
This process may cause east side residents to lose water service or water pressure for a period of time during the day today when WRC closes the valves. We do not have an estimate for what time during the day or how long that will be due to the nature of the work and the uncertainties caused by our old water infrastructure.

Salt bucket fill moved to Tuesday, December 16.
Salt delivery is being delayed until next week because we’re looking at wet and wintry weather on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week. Brilar crews will be busy with snow clearing and we can’t be certain when their crews will be rested and ready to fill buckets, or what the weather will be late this week.
As a reminder, residents may place up to three 5-gallon buckets at the end of your driveway to be filled. Please have them out by 9 am on Tuesday, December 16. It will most likely take more than one day to fill all salt buckets in the City, so please be patient if your buckets are not filled on the 16th and leave them out until they’re filled. This will be the only time salt buckets are filled this winter.
You may also want to label your buckets with your address in case we need to take them away to fill them (not likely, but possible).
The final week of curbside leaf pickup begins on Monday, December 1. Each street will be picked up one time. Please have all leaves to the curb by Sunday, November 30 to ensure that the leaves are collected. If leaves are placed at the curb after the street is picked up, we will not come back to collect them.
Bagged leaves can be placed at the curb on Mondays until December 15.
We will update this post next week with the day and time that each street is completed.
Curbside leaf collection begins on Monday, October 27. Leaves cannot be placed in the street until the weekend prior. Bagged leaves can be placed out for compost pickup on Mondays from now until December 15.
Curbside leaf collection will be a little different this year. We have contracted with both Davey and Brilar for leaf collection. Each contractor will be collecting leaves on one side of the City each week. This means that leaves will be collected from each street every week. Fall weather is unpredictable so there will likely be delays or adjustments to the schedule at some point during curbside collection. We’ll update the website if that’s the case.
Curbside leaf collection will begin on October 27, and the final pickup will begin on December 1. The last day to place leaves at the curb will be November 30. If you place leaves out at the curb after your street is picked up the week of December 1, they may not be collected.

On the afternoon of Monday, November 17 a neighboring police department made a traffic stop and found that the driver of the vehicle had an order for deportation that had been processed through the court system and signed by a judge. The passenger had a detainer (warrant) for arrest. The United States Border Patrol (USBP) responded to the scene of the traffic stop and took the two occupants of the vehicle into custody.
After leaving the scene of the traffic stop, the two arrestees assaulted the USBP agent and one of them escaped from the 10 Mile/Roanoke area in Oak Park. Numerous area agencies, including USBP and Pleasant Ridge PD, responded to search for the escaped arrestee.
This incident began with the neighboring police department finding the detainer/warrant specific to the occupants of the vehicle during a routine traffic stop. The various Federal and local agencies in and around the area yesterday were searching for the escaped arrestee who had assaulted a law enforcement officer.
